Good rehabilitation really is the key to making a good functional recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery.
If you undergo this procedure, you’ll notice that your quadriceps muscle weakens quite significantly. This is part of the normal response to knee surgery. Regaining quads strength is essential, to allow you to recover your confidence in your knee.
Additionally, you will need to teach your knee and leg to respond to positions and activities that may make your knee unstable. This is part of “proprioceptive” training: re-learning the awareness of joint position.
